Cool Front Brings Fall Weather to The Borderland!

By Brad Montgomery

A strong cool front moved into the borderland early Thursday and made its presence known through the day with cooler temperatures and even some rainfall. In fact the high Wednesday before the front was 89 degrees, which is average for this time of year. After the front came through we saw a high Thursday of just 75 degrees, this was some 14 degrees below average. And a temperatures more typical of what we would see in October!

The front also brought with it gusty winds and some rain. When the front first came through we saw winds gusting over 40 miles per hour on the west side of El Paso. Winds gusted over 30 miles per hour at the El Paso International Airport. And winds with the front gusting to near 30 miles per hour at the Las Cruces Airport.

With moisture in place and a disturbance moving through the region we also had lots of clouds and even some showers. Officially at the El Paso International Airport we saw .05 inches of rainfall. We now have a total at the El Paso International Airport of .49 inches for the month and 4.91 inches for the year. But we are still behind for the year when it comes to precipitation.
