After looking forward to a pair of storm systems bringing the possibility of rain and snow to the borderland, we ended up dry. This was a case where things did not come together as the computer models we use as a guide suggested. Originally with the opportunity for two storm systems to come through the area the thinking was we would see slight chances for showers both Wednesday and Thursday.
But as we got closer to the middle of the week the forecast began to change. One of the two storm systems that was projected to track just south of the Mexican border Wednesday, tracked much further south. In fact the system took a track through central Mexico, so far south we were left high and dry. The second storm system moved by but to our north. This brought some light showers to areas to our north and west around T or C and Silver City. But as this second storm system moved further south and east it lost its moisture tap from the Gulf of California. So instead of light rain showers for our Thursday we saw a period of high and mid level cloudiness move through, ultimately being left high and dry for the week. Looking ahead to next week it looks like we will remain mostly dry. Instead of seeing chances for precipitation, we will see more chances for wind as stronger storm systems pass by mainly to our north.
I grew up in Cerritos, California, a suburb of Los Angeles and have had a love for nature since I was very young.
