Police Killed in Kenya Election Violence

At least four police officers were killed in Kenya on Monday (March 4) just hours before voting began in the presidential election. A gang wielding machetes attacked the officers as they tried to keep the peace in the port city of Mombasa. Several others suffered severe wounds. The attackers have not yet been identified, but police say they could be linked to a regional separatist movement. Polling stations opened across the country at 6 a.m. as the tense election got underway.
