The Fitzroy River in the Queensland city of Rockhampton did not reach an expected peak of 8.7 metres (28.6 feet) on Sunday (February 3) as floodwaters receded, local media said. The river reached 8.6 metres (28.2 feet) on Saturday (February 2). Local media has reported that more than 1100 properties have been affected by the floods and that carcases of drowned livestock have been seen floating in the water.
