Cardinals WR Boldin Out Against Cowboys

POSTED: 2:53 pm MDT October 10, 2008

(Sports Network) - Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin is out for Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Boldin underwent surgery on a fractured facial bone last Thursday after he suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit on September 28 against the New York Jets.

"He's just not quite ready", said Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt.

The injury occurred when Boldin was in the end zone trying to haul in a pass from Kurt Warner with 27 seconds left in the contest when Jets safety Eric Smith collided with him on a helmet-to-helmet hit. Boldin crumpled to the turf, motionless for several minutes, but fully conscious.

He was tended to by medical staffs and brought off the field on a backboard and was taken to a hospital for observation.

The league suspended Smith one game and fined him $50,000 for the jarring hit.

Boldin has caught 27 balls for 366 yards and five touchdowns in four games this season.
