Naismith Hall of Fame: Nolan Richardson's Historic Run Began at Bowie

Nolan Richardson will step onto the grandest of basketball stages tonight in Springfield, Mass. — being enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

But 40 years or so ago, Richardson was toiling away quietly, molding young men and perfecting the craft of coaching at Bowie High School.

Slowly, El Paso began to notice. And by now, the basketball world has noticed.

Richardson, known best for his excellence at Tulsa and at Arkansas and known slightly for a national championship at Western Texas Junior College, honed his craft at Bowie High ... going 180-90 during the 10-year span from 1968-1977.
