EL PASO, Texas -- Investigators with the El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons and Crimes Against Children's Unit are investigating a child death.  Emergency crews were called out to Far East El Paso on Sunday afternoon after a 2-year old girl was found unresponsive.

The call for paramedics went out at 12:43 p.m. Sunday at the 13000 block of Enrique Gomez Lane and Hugo Reyes Street after family members found a 2-year-old girl inside a hot vehicle.

Family members were said to have been performing CPR as paramedics arrived. The child was then rushed to Sierra Providence East where she was pronounced dead.

Police have not confirmed how long the child had been inside the vehicle.  Emergency scanners indicated she was last seen by family members around 3 a.m.

One neighbor told KFOX14, "I'm shocked that someone could leave their child in a car and not know the whereabouts for a few hours."

Another person said, "You would never wish that to happen to any family."

Investigators are trying to figure out what happened.

This is the second time this week that a 2-year old has been found in a car unresponsive.

On Wednesday a 2-year old boy was found left in the car.  He is being treated at the local children's hospital.
