City postpones agenda item to create designated parking for downtown residents

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas - Parking is a major concern for residents living near the ballpark in downtown El Paso, and the city said reserved spaces will come for residents at a price.

On Tuesday, City Council postponed an item that would create a new zone for the Sunset Heights neighborhood.

The zone is designed to guarantee that those who live in that area will be able to find parking on game nights. However, it won't be free for residents.

"We do charge for the residential parking passes, and you will have to participate in that. However, this is the only way that we could guarantee that those residents will always have available parking in front of their homes," said city representative Cortney Niland.

City council members hope to make a decision on the issue at next week's meeting.
