Traffic spikes used to pull over DWI suspect with child passenger

By: Jamel Valencia
HORIZON CITY, Texas - A 38-year-old woman driving with her 4-year-old son in the car would not pull over for a deputy, according to the El Paso County Sheriffs Office.

On Tuesday, a deputy went out to the 100 block of NE K in Fabens in response to a family violence call, said EPCSO spokesman Mariano Valle.

The responding deputy learned that Sara Zuniga had left the home with her son and was under the influence of alcohol.

The deputy spotted the car Zuniga was driving, traveling on the eastbound lanes of Horizon Boulevard.

When the deputy turned on his lights and siren to pull Zuniga over, she ignored him and continued driving, said Valle.

Traffic spikes were used to get the suspects car to stop.

Zuniga was placed under arrest and charged with driving while intoxicated.

She also faces charges of failing to identify and evading arrest with a vehicle.

Her son was not injured during the incident, deputies said.
