Local teens restore Trinity Community Center

Sarai Bejarano
EL PASO, Texas - This weekend more than 160 teens from around El Paso County will be celebrating Global Youth Day. The teens will celebrate by helping restore Trinity Community Center located at 3125 Rivera Ave.

Trinity Community Center will receive building maintenance, grounds landscaping and even a mural as part of the restoration. They will be assisted by 30 adults that include parents and staff from the Juvenile Probation Department and the West Texas Community Supervision Department. Home Depot will donate the supplies and tools that will be used in the restoration of this historical landmark.

The Trinidad Community Center was built in the late 1800s, and was instrumental in the organization of the Cesar Chavez political movement, the foundation of La Fe Clinic and the creation of the Job Corps Center in El Paso.

The teens will work on the restoration from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, and will continue on Sunday, April 13.
