El Paso community asked to wear blue for Child Abuse Prevention Month

By: Jamel Valencia
EL PASO, Texas - In 2013, Child Protective Services reported 2,259 confirmed victims of child abuse in the El Paso area; in four of those cases, the child died of abuse or neglect.

The community on Wednesday wore blue to raise awareness of child abuse prevention.

CPS officials also celebrated the grand opening of the agency's new facility, located at 501 Hawkins Blvd.

The new building is equipped with infant and toddler rooms to accommodate victims.
