Update: Man stabs woman at northeast El Paso hotel

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas -- Police were at the scene of a stabbing at the Colonia Motor Hotel on Dyer Street where two people were injured.

The incident was reported around 7:23 p.m. Tuesday at 8601 Dyer St., and involved a 28-year-old man and a woman in her 30s, police said.

Emergency dispatchers reported a woman screaming in one of the hotel rooms saying that she had been stabbed.

Police said Mark Salas got in a fight with the victim that left the woman with stab wounds in her upper torso.
Salas was also stabbed in his lower body.

Salas tried to flee the scene and was chased, caught and struck down by good Samaritans until police arrived, police said.

The two were taken to University Medical Center for treatment, and Salas was in police custody at the hospital for an outstanding warrant out of Lubbock, Texas.

He will be booked into the county jail upon his release from the hospital.
