Trail to be named after woman killed while training

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas The city of El Paso paid tribute to a mom who was killed while training for the Transmountain Challenge.

Liz Hernandez was killed on Transmountain Road in 2010 when an SUV swerved and hit her.

In Hernandezs honor, the city named the trail from Resler Drive to Paseo Del Norte the Elizabeth F. Hernandez Memorial Hike and Bike Trail.

Hernandezs husband was thankful for the naming, which was something he said he never expected.

"My kids -- it's a surprise for them and the family, so I've been keeping this to myself, said Bernardo Hernandez. Im excited for them to find out.

Hernandez left behind her husband and three teenaged children.
