Group of young men sought in Las Cruces after stabbing man

LAS CRUCES, Texas - Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify the culprits in a Thursday evening stabbing that sent a man to the hospital.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Las Cruces police were called to the 4200 block of Broadview where a 19-year-old man was suffering from at least one stab wound. The man received first aid at the scene and was then airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Detectives said the man and his wife were driving home Thursday night when they were confronted by a group of young men, possibly teenagers, who threw something at their vehicle. The 19-year-old stopped the vehicle and confronted the boys.

Witnesses told police that a fight broke out and the 19-year-old man was stabbed.

The two to five attackers were all described as teenagers. They were said to be Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and thin.

One of the attacker was believed to be wearing a short-sleeve blue and white flannel shirt. Another was wearing a white, long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt with a symbol across the chest. Yet another culprit was believed to have a spiked haircut and was wearing a white shirt.
