Police: Woman repeatedly tried to run over girlfriend

By: Jesse Martinez
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - A 44-year-old woman faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge after police said she tried to run over her girlfriend.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday police were called out to the 1300 block of Magoffin Place in regards to a domestic disturbance.

Through their investigation, police discovered that Vanessa Flores, 44, and her 41-year-old girlfriend were at a friend's home drinking beer.

When the couple returned to Flores' home, they got into an argument that turned physical, police said.

The 41-year-old left Flores' home on foot and was walking down the street when Flores allegedly drove her Kia Sephia toward her, police said.

The woman was able to jump out of the way, but witnesses told police the vehicle turned around and went after the woman again.

Again, the victim was able to avoid getting hit by the car.

Flores returned home, but left before police arrived. She was later found and arrested.

Flores was booked into the county jail and has posted bail.
