Purple Day for epilepsy awareness

By: Jamel Valencia

March 26 is recognized as Purple Day across the U.S.

Purple Day was created to raise awareness about epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness or convulsions associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Users of Facebook on Wednesday were able to change their status to read, On March 26, I'm wearing PURPLE to support EPILEPSY AWARENESS and to change their profile to purple.

Its estimated that 1 in 100 people have epilepsy, according to www.purpleday.org.
