By: Ruben Veloz
EL PASO, Texas -- Police are investigating a serious car crash that left one woman in serious condition.

Miranda Marie Ross was rushed to University Medical Center with serious injuries, firefighters said.

Police blocked off both directions of McCombs and Gateway South as they investigated.

Officers said the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. when the 20-year-old woman was driving a white Volkswagen Jetta alone crashed into a light pole.

The impact smashed the front end of the car, and trapped Ross inside the car for 30 minutes while firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free her from the car.

KFOX14 Morning news crew took video of the scene and found the cars engine lying in the middle of the intersection.

Ross was heading southbound on McCombs at a high rate of speed approaching Gateway South when her vehicle struck a light post, said police.

An investigation is ongoing.
