Pope Francis names new commission

By: Krista Garvin
EL PASO, Texas- Pope Francis has started a new commission that he hopes will put an end to sexual abuse in the church.

Yesterday he named the members of the commission; half of them are women and one was assaulted by a priest as a child

Eight members have been announced, after the pope was recently called out by victims' groups for not paying enough attention to abuse scandals.

This topic has not only tarnished the Catholic Church's reputation, but cost dioceses billions of dollars in legal fees and settlements.

The new commission will work to protect the children, train church personnel, and keep abusers out of the clergy.
