Chihuahuas debut stadium lights at Southwest University Park

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas The city turned on the switch for lights at Southwest University Park in downtown El Paso Tuesday night.

The El Paso Chihuahuas hosted a media night to showcase and test the lighting display.

Officials said the lights are dark-sky compliant meaning the lights are as unobtrusive as possible.

We've done lighting studies, we're trying to do our best to make this park a great place and yet not a hindrance to people, said project manager Alan Shubert.

The El Paso Chihuahuas begin the season on the road against Reno on April 3. Their sold-out home opener in El Paso will be April 28 against Fresno.
