Deadly pedestrian accident in west El PasoBy: Sarai BejaranoEL PASO, Texas - A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in west El Paso. According to police, they received a call about a pedestrian accident at 8:29 p.m. Friday. The crash occurred in the 3600 block of Doniphan Drive. Special Traffic Investigators were called to the scene and their investigation revealed that Milton Ellis, 71, was driving a blue 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck northbound on Doniphan Drive when he struck Matthew Gurule, 53.The investigation revealed that Gurule was running across Doniphan Drive and came across the path of Ellis; Gurule died at the scene.According to police, alcohol and speed are not contributing factors to the crash on behalf of the driver. The crash is suspected to have been caused by Gurule not crossing in a crosswalk and he was also suspected of consuming alcohol. The investigation continues.This is the 11th traffic fatality of the year.
