Official: Woman tried to hide meth from officers during booking

By: Jesse Martinez
DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. -- While being booked into the Dona Ana County jail, a woman tried to hide a small bag a meth from officers, an official said.

Delila Jansen was found to be driving on a suspended license and was being booked on that charge, a spokesperson for the Sheriffs Office said.

When Jansen was asked to remove her pants during a standard visual search, she told officers she felt sick and did not want to finish the search, an official said.

Jansen, 26, was reportedly coughing and covering her mouth with a closed fist and refused to open her mouth and hand.

A detention officer grabbed Jansens hand and found a small plastic bag that had 1.2 grams of meth, an official said.

Jansen was then charged with possession of methamphetamine and remains in the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

Earlier this week, a 34-year-old man at the detention center tried to hide a small bag of heroin in his rectum. That instance was the second heroin interception at the jail within a week.
