Sheriff's Office: Man hired to remodel El Paso homes cons residents

By: Jamel Valencia
EL PASO, Texas - A local con-artist portraying himself as a legit contractor is sought by the El Paso County Sheriffs Office.

Victor Hernandez has made his money acting as a contractor, according to a sheriffs official.

Hernandez has been hired to remodel homes in El Paso, for which he collected the payment and started the work, but then doesn't finish the job, according to the Sheriff's Office.

According to the authorities, Hernandez has collected thousands of dollars.
The 39-year-old does have contractor and building experience, but he is not someone you should hire, say sheriff's officials.

Sheriffs officials said he is also known for stealing from former employers.

Hernandez faces five counts of deceptive business practice and two counts of theft of property.

The alleged con-artist is aware the Sheriffs Office is looking for him. The authorities believe Hernandez is hiding with friends and family.

If you have information about Hernandezs whereabouts, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 (TIPS).
