Police: Angry Las Cruces homeless man attacks 2 people with machete

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - An attack with a machete lead to the arrest of a homeless man on Valentines Day, police said.

According to police, Carlos J. Fisher was at a makeshift campsite on a ditch bank near Compress Road and Amador Avenue when he was approached by a man and woman.

The man and woman were looking for someone and asked Fisher if he had seen that person.

Fisher then attacked the woman the machete on the back of her neck. Fisher then used the machete and struck the man, cutting his hand, said police.

The two victims were not seriously injured and were able to run from the ditch bank and seek help.

Police said Fisher was arrested at his campsite where the machete was also recovered.

Fisher was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
