Police: Driver was allegedly under the influence, speeding, carrying weapons
EL PASO, Texas - An El Paso man was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon after he was stopped for speeding Sunday, according to police.
A police sergeant spotted a 2013 Dodge Challenger going east along the 11700 block of Montana Avenue, traveling 82 mph in a 55 mph zone at 1:25 a.m.
According to police, the sergeant stopped the car and suspected the driver, William Lynn, was intoxicated.
The sergeant said he also noticed a pistol inside the open center console of the car.
An officer from the DWI Task Force responded to take over the investigation. Lynn refused a breath test and was taken to the police station to have blood drawn, police said.
While under arrest, police discovered Lynn was in possession of a loaded .45 caliber pistol and had a set of brass knuckles concealed on him.
The 21-year-old was booked into El Paso County jail and his bonds totaled $6,500.
