Police investigate officer involved crash

By: Ruben Veloz, El Paso police

EL PASO, Texas--A person was taken to the hospital after a crash involving an El Paso police patrol car.

It happened at the corner of Rushing and Yvette Avenue, in a residential neighborhood east of Cohen stadium.

El Paso police tell KFOX14 that the officers were dispatched to a fight call in the area around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Somehow that led to a crash, involving a '90s model Dodge Durango and both vehicles crashed into a rock wall.

One person was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives at the scene won't say what led to the crash, but the back window of the SUV was broken with a basketball-sized hole.

Officers have not said if the person taken to the hospital was the officer or the driver of the SUV.

There were no other reported injuries.
