Stabbing in northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas - One person was stabbed in northeast El Paso Sunday morning. According to the El Paso Police Department, the Northeast Regional Command Center handled the call. Officers arrived at the scene around 2:15 a.m. at 4321 Dyer St. at Halftime Sports Bar.

According to police, the victim, a 49-year-old man, was inside the bar having a conversation with a woman who is said to be in a relationship with the subject, Jorge Pichardo, 25. Pichardo approached the two and began to argue with the victim and the woman.

Pichardo accused the two of trying to pursuing a sexual relationship and began to assault the male victim by throwing him to the ground.

Pichardo then pulled out a knife and swung it toward the victim. The victim was able to defend himself from serious stab wounds but did sustain lacerations to his right hand. Pichardo was then said to leave with the woman.

Officers later arrested Pichardo when they went to go check on the welfare of the woman and found him asleep at the residence. Pichardo was arrested without any further incident. The 49-year-old victim was treated by El Paso fire and medical for his injuries.
