Las Cruces Utilities to test water at 10 p.m.

By: Jesse Martinez
LAS CRUCES, N.M. Some Las Cruces residents will need to take a closer look at the water coming out of their faucets Wednesday night.

Starting at 10 p.m., the city's Utilities Department will be testing and introducing new infrastructure into the city's water distribution system.

The testing could create discolored water in the areas of El Paseo Road, University Avenue, Solano Drive and Telshor Boulevard.

The discoloration is the result of iron, manganese and calcium deposits.

Officials said the water is safe to drink, but residents should wait to do laundry until the water becomes clear.
