Teenager killed in a two vehicle collision identified

By: Sarai Bejarano
EL PASO, Texas - The El Paso Police Department has identified the teenager who was killed in a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon.

According to the El Paso Police Department the teenager who passed away was Pablo Hernandez, 13.

A second teen also suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Del Sol Medical Center. Police were called to the scene at 4:26 p.m. Saturday, where their investigation revealed that that a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling east along the 9300 block of North Loop. The driver of the Suburban was 40-year-old Patricia Hernandez who was accompanied by two passengers, 13-year-old Pablo Hernandez and a 15-year-old girl.

The Suburban was hit by a 2009 Ford F150 that was speeding and also traveling eastbound on North Loop. The Ford F150 crashed into the rear of the Suburban, and caused the Suburban to lose control and strike a rock wall.

The driver of the Suburban was also injured but her injuries were non-life-threatening. Neither of the teenagers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The Department's Special Traffic Investigations Unit believes speed and alcohol are factors in this crash.

Charges are pending for the driver of the F150, whose identity is being withheld; that person remains at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
