Last day to turn in overdue books

By: Sarai Bejarano
EL PASO, Texas - The El Paso Public Librarys amnesty period is coming to an end. Today is the last day to turn in overdue books or to donate nonperishable foods to pay off fines.

The amnesty program was established to encourage people who owe fines to the El Paso Public Library for overdue books to pay off fines by donating canned goods, thus helping return books to the local public libraries and helping feed those in need.

One canned donation can be traded in for a $1 fine.
