Lower Valley house fire injures one, displaces family

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas A Lower Valley house fire left a family of seven displaced and sent one man to the hospital with first-degree burns, officials said.

Around 10:45 a.m. Thursday fire crews responded to the fire at 131 Palla Place, and saw smoke and flames coming from the front corner of the home, officials said.

Two women and a child who were in the home at the time of the fire were safely evacuated after neighbors reached out to them, officials said.

It took about nine fire units and 23 firefighters to extinguish the blaze. A 19-year-old man received first-degree burns to his forehead while trying to put out the fire, officials said.

He was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, but has since been released.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and the damage is estimated at $40,000.

Other family members are assisting the displaced family, officials said.
