Stabbings, Shootings, and Accidents ring in New Year throughout Borderland

EL PASO, Texas Various accidents, stabbings and shootings were recorded throughout the borderland as the start of 2014 rang in.
Two people were rushed to University Medical Center in El Paso, after a stabbing in Northeast El Paso.
Emergency personnel told KFOX14 that stabbing happened just before 2:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at the Circle-K at the 4500 block of Woodrow Bean/Transmountain.
Officials could not disclose the extent of the injuries sustained during this incident. No word if any arrests were made.
In San Elizario, a rollover accident after 2:00 A.M. at the 800 block of Thompson left one man with serious head injuries.
El Paso County Sheriffs Office spokesman Mariano Valle confirmed with KFOX14 that the driver may have been travelling at speeds of more than 80 miles per hour, when he lost control of the car.
That caused the unknown-type vehicle to rollover at least three times. Deputy Valle said the car split in half because of the accident.
One of the two passengers in the car was said to be suffering from serious head injuriesincluding a possible skull fracture. There was no information on the other victims injuries.
Both persons were rushed to UMC for treatment.
Also in El Paso, a man is stabbed and shot during an argument in Central El Paso.
El Paso Police spokesman Darrel Petry told KFOX14 that two men were arguing early Wednesday morning, at a home on the 100 block of N. Glenwood St. One of the two men left the home, but returned at around 3:45 A.M.
Thats when police said the man brandished a firearm, and fired it, striking the other man once in the arm and leg.
Police said the two then became involved in an altercation. During that fight, the victim was stabbed, possibly in the upper torso.
The victim was rushed to UMC. KFOX14 is told his injuries were non-life threatening.
Its still unknown if charges will be pursued.
El Paso police continue to investigate these incidents.
Several other minor accidents and altercations were reported throughout the early morningand several alleged drunken driving calls throughout the city.
