West-side pet salon burglarized; Grooming supplies stolen

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas -- A burglar forces a west El Paso pet grooming salon to temporarily close its doors.

Police said someone broke a window at Fur Pet Salon, on the 6300 block of North Mesa Street.

The thief walked away with all of the shears, clippers and a dryer -- the essentials for dog grooming.

Investigators told the salon manager that there has been a rash of business burglaries along Mesa Street recently. This appears to be the latest break-in.

"They believe it's the same person that's been robbing all the other businesses, so hopefully they catch him, said Darlene Cardoza, salon manager.

Cardoza said they were able to get some grooming equipment donated while they wait for new grooming supplies.

She said they lost about $2,000 worth of equipment, and that doesnt include the money lost because of appointments they had to cancel to deal with the burglary.

The shop plans to reopen Friday morning.
