Two women arrested in home invasion case

By: Jesse Martinez
LAS CRUCES, N.M. Hours after warrants were issued to a pair of women believed to be involved in a New Year's Day home invasion, they were arrested without incident.

Cylver Pearl Betancourt, 18, and Rachel Carrillo, 19, were wanted on aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary charges, and warrants were issued earlier Tuesday.

Deputies said the two were arrested at a home in the 1200 block of Wingate Road in Las Cruces without incident.

The women are believed to have accompanied a group of four men who allegedly broke into Joseph Torrez's home. Torrez lived there with his fiance and young son.

When deputies arrived to the scene, one man was seriously injured and later died, while another was hospitalized. The three surviving men were arrested and face several charges.
