Victim in New Year's Day stabbing, shooting identified

EL PASO, Texas A 34-year-old man was shot and stabbed two times by an unknown man in South Central El Paso, police said.
Officials said David Mendoza got into a fight with the man Tuesday night at a home on the 100 block of Glenwood Street.
A few hours later at around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, the man returned and shot Mendoza twice and also stabbed him twice, police said.
Mendoza was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, but police said he is not cooperating with investigators. The motive behind the attack is unknown, police said.
Police believe the two know each other, but their relationship is unconfirmed.
The investigation remains open and anyone with information is asked to call police at 915-832-4400.
