Olympic-sized pool to be built at Franklin High School

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas A New Olympic-sized pool will be built in west El Paso with the help of El Paso ISD and the city of El Paso.

The EPISDs board of managers gave initial approval to build a 50-meter pool on the Franklin High School campus.

The 2012 quality of life bonds passed by local voters will pay for the project.

"My thinking is collaborate as much as I can with the city and the county and share our resources. Even other districts so we can have more benefit for the taxpayer for the same tax dollar, said Juan Cabrera, EPISD superintendent.

Several details still need to be ironed out before final approval, including maintenance and other shared costs.
