Former county judge, Anthony Cobos; Lorenzo Aguilar: Sentenced today

By: Chrisdyann Uribe

EL PASO, Texas -- Former El Paso County Judge Anthony Cobos and co-defendant Lorenzo Aguilar, a local architect, will find out their sentences today at 2 p.m.

Cobos was accused of receiving $4,500 in bribes from lobbyists in return for his vote as the head of El Paso Commissioners Court.

Aguilar was accused of assisting one of the exchanges for the bribes.

In September both pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and deprivation.

U.S. District Judge Frank Montalvo said he will take federal prosecutors' recommendation to each sentence Cobos and Aguilar to four years in prison.
