Affidavit states Dona Ana County man sexually abused relative
By: Jesse Martinez
DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. The arrest affidavit of a 53-year-old man accused of child sex abuse states he allegedly abused a young relative starting at the age of 4.
As KFOX14 previously reported, Hiram James Morris was arrested Aug. 13 on 10 counts of criminal sexual penetration.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was five years old when she showed inappropriate, and sexually aggressive behavior toward adults and other children. Her parents noticed emotional outbursts were worse on the days after she was with Morris.
In an interview at Families Youth Incorporated, on Aug. 7, the victim stated that since she was four years old she would visit Morris, who would "teach her things" when they were alone. The victim said Morris stuck his fingers into her anus about 10 times on separate days, the affidavit stated.
When asked about an incident where the victim had straddled Morris' stomach and "go up and down," Morris told deputies that although she did get on his chest and move in a sexual way, he stopped her, the affidavit said.
Morris also denied any inappropriate behavior between him and the girl, but he did acknowledge that the two spent a lot of time together, according to the affidavit.
Morris was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond in August and he posted bail the next day.
