Hundreds of travelers unable to fly to Dallas

EL PASO, Texas -- Hundreds of travelers were unable to fly from El Paso to Dallas Friday after a severe ice storm hit there.
Several flights at the El Paso International Airport were canceled Friday morning and evening.
"I fly every week for work, and I've never had a delay from Minneapolis with this kind of an issue. I'm just kind of surprised at what kind of delays we have," Minneapolis resident James Woodrich said.
Woodrich said he decided to catch a connection to Minneapolis out of Phoenix instead, so he would not have to stay overnight in El Paso.
"I got here at 7 a.m. for an 8:30 a.m. flight. The 8:30 a.m. flight was canceled. They booked me for an 11:55 a.m. flight, which I found out was canceled without really being told that. I just looked up at the screen and noticed it was canceled," Woodrich said.
One of our coworkers at KFOX14 was one of the lucky travelers that made it to Dallas Friday afternoon. She said travelers' worries didn't stop when the plane left the tarmac.
"All the people who live in Dallas, they were saying that they had to get cabs once they get to the airport so they could go home. There's no way they would be able to move their vehicles out of the parking lot," El Paso resident Yasmin Pinon said.
Pinon also said piles of snow and ice line the tarmac at the Dallas International Airport.
Some travelers also said they have no choice but to stay overnight.
