El Paso police arrest woman they believe sold hundreds of fake license plates

By: Gina Benitez
EL PASO, Texas-- El Paso police arrested a woman after they say she was selling fraudulent license plates.

An undercover officer went into Fairway Motors at 7264 Alameda and met with Laura Reyes on November 26.

The officer purchased a $20 fraudulent, paper license plate from Reyes, said police.

Investigators believe the suspect sold hundreds of the fake plates for the past 6 to 8 months.

Friday Reyes was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged with unauthorized reproduction, purchase, use or sale of temporary tags.

The El Paso Police Department's Auto Theft Task Force, along with the El Paso County Tax Office and Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, were all a part of the investigation.
