Military members can now get through airport security more easily

EL PASO, Texas - Those who serve our country will now have an easier time getting through airports, including El Paso International Airport.
It's a program that's been around for a couple years, but has just extended benefits to military members.
"Traveling as a service member, the air industry has been really good," said Lt. Col. Moliki Mulitalo of Fort Bliss.
And now, it's just become a bit better.
As of Friday, anyone serving in the any branch of the U.S. military can go through security at certain airports more easily.
"We basically just showed our ID, our boarding pass and went through," said Adrian Valles of the U.S. Navy.
The program is called TSA pre-check and has been around since 2011.
Those who are part of it can enjoy shorter lines, shorter wait times and an overall easier, better experience at security.
"You got expedited through all the lines. You didn't really have to worry about any of the hassle or taking off really any of your outer garments or shoes, which tends to cause a lot of backup," Valles said.
Before, only certain frequent flyers and those part of a CBP Trusted Travelers Programs could use the benefits.
Now, they've been extended to the brave men and women who serve our country.
"I think it's great. People really appreciate our service. They thank us a lot for what we do for our country," said Sgt. Christopher Young of Fort Bliss.
"I think it's a great idea. It saves us time, especially when we have all this stuff we have to carry aboard, so I think it's a wonderful idea," said Mulitalo.
"Well, I flew in from Chicago. I had to stop and get a layover in Dallas. At both of them, I had to go through security and both of them took less than maybe 5 minutes," Valles said.
The program is now in place at 100 participating airports around the country.
