Deputies: Hand grenade found in far east El Paso County

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO COUNTY, Texas A hang grenade was found in far east El Paso County Tuesday morning, and several law enforcement agencies worked together to safely remove it, officials said.

According to a spokesperson for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the call around 11:30 a.m. at 16600 Montana Ave.

About 300 yards into the desert area, deputies found an army-style ammunition can that contained the hand grenade. Federal officials were then notified.

The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal all responded to the incident and safely secured the grenade, officials said.
