Donation website set up for Poole family forced to shut down
By: Jamel Valencia
EL PASO, Texas - Efforts to help a family that is recovering from a tragic experience are being forced to shut down.
Rachel, Justin and baby Isabella Poole are together, recovering from a brutal attack on wife and mother Rachel Poole in which she was stabbed repeatedly while nine months pregnant.
Since the stabbing, the Poole family has received support from around the world, with many wanting to donate to the family.
Rachel Poole is under hospital care after she was allegedly assaulted in her home by a Fort Bliss soldier, Corey Bernard Moss, 19.
Rachel, who had just gotten home, was video chatting with her husband, who was deployed at the time; she was confronted by Moss, according to the arrest affidavit.
It stated that Moss was identified during the attack by Rachel and Justin. Moss was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a charge of criminal attempted capital murder.
Close friends of the Poole family set up donation sites for the family on GoFundMe.com, but their efforts were halted after orders from outside pressure.
"The GoFundMe site has been closed down, but a point of contact will be made for charitable donations in the near future," said Rachel Poole to KFOX14 Tuesday morning.
On Monday, Rachel and baby Isabella were reunited for the first time since Isabella was born on Nov. 1.
The family video that was shared with KFOX14 reporter Bill Melugin by the Poole family showed Rachel holding Isabella in her arms.
