Police: Man armed with box cutter chases victim at Riverside High School

By: Gina Benitez
EL PASO, Texas

A man is allegedly threatened with a box cutter at Riverside High School.

On Saturday police said they responded to the parking lot of Riverside High School after two men were thrown out of a basketball game.

Police said the victim, a 53-year-old man, was punched by 54-year-old Ervin Smiley while the men played basketball inside.

Once the two got to the parking lot, Smiley allegedly walked to his car, took out a box cutter from inside and chased the victim around a parked car.

Police said Smiley left, reported the incident to the Central Regional Command and was then placed under arrest.

He's been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
