Need for foster families in El Paso nearly doubles

By: Gina Benitez
El Paso, Texas -- The demand for adoptive and foster families in El Paso is bigger than it has ever been.

In October 2012 96 children were ready for adoption. This year that number has nearly doubled and is to 170.

In an effort to find homes for these children, area agencies are getting together to hold an adoption fair and a seminar to educate people on the challenges these foster children face.

The 2013 CARE Conference will be held on Nov. 13 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m at Region 19 Education Services Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
