Lunch Box thief: Customer's envelope of cash taken by man

EL PASO, Texas An envelope filled with thousands of dollars was left behind by a 58-year-old man at a Lower Valley restaurant, and police are asking for the public's help to find suspected thief.

Police said that on Oct. 29 between 2:40 and 3 p.m., a 58-year-old man left an envelope containing $6,000 on the counter at the Lunch Box Mexican restaurant located at 667 North Carolina Dr.

When the victim reached the parking lot, he realized he left his envelope behind, and when he went inside, he was told another person claimed it, police said.

A video obtained by police detectives shows a white man between 50 to 60 years of age taking the envelope and leaving the restaurant. The suspect, who is between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, drove away in a gray sedan.

The suspect was last seen wearing a gray sweater, black shirt and light brown pants.

Anyone with information on the suspect's identity is asked to call police at 915-832-4400. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive a cash reward by contacting Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477.
