By: Jamel Valencia and Jesse Martinez
DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. More information was released about a man who broke into a home and sexually assaulted a woman, deputies said.
As KFOX14 previously reported, the incident happened Wednesday on the 5200 block of Comanche Trail, in Dona Ana County, around noon Nov. 20.
A mother had just put her child down for a nap when an unwelcome man forced his way into her home, said Dona Ana County sheriff's investigators.
The victim told investigators she heard someone at her door, and when she answered it, the man forced his way in. The woman was knocked against the wall and lost consciousness, said investigators. When she awakened, she saw that her dog was attacking the man.
He was able to get away through the back door of the house.
Police said the woman was sexually assaulted; her child was unharmed.
According to the victim, the attacker wore a bright, fluorescent orange hooded sweatshirt. He appeared to be a dark-skinned Hispanic man, about 30 years old with dark eyes.
Investigators are looking for someone matching that description that may also have injuries consistent with bite marks from a dog attack. Anyone with information on suspicious activity in the area or an individual matching that description is asked to call the Doa Ana County Sheriff's Office at 575-525-8879.
