By: Ruben Veloz
EL PASO, Texas -- A woman and her daughter manage to escape from their burning home after their smoke alarm goes off in the middle of the night.

It happened around midnight on Monday near Memphis Avenue and Elm Street.

The woman and her daughter managed to escape from their home without any injuries, firefighters said.

Neighbors said they could see tons of smoke and flames billowing out of the windows and vents.

"I'm just glad they came out OK, and just hope and pray nobody else got hurt," said Rudy Shackleferd.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames within 15 minutes.

The woman and her daughter are staying with relatives, firefighters said.

No word on what started the fire or cost of damages.
