Police: Man tried to run over employees at car dealership

By: Jesse Martinez
LAS CRUCES, N.M. Three employees at a Las Cruces car dealership were nearly run over by a man Friday, according to police.

Matthew Cardon, 31, nearly struck the employees when he reversed his 2008 Pontiac G6 at the Jack Key car dealership at 1840 N. Main St., police said.

Police learned that Cardon tried to provoke a fight with one of the employees, and after arguing for a short while, he got into his car.

Cardon was located by police as he was walking back toward the dealership.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bail set at $8,000 cash-only.
