Students get dramatic with cancer fundraiser

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas -- Some Del Valle High School students are looking to get dramatic about fighting cancer, and the public is invited to join their battle.

The school's drama department is putting on a special performance of "Eight Track: Sounds of the Seventies" this Friday.

The drama department describes the show as a fast-paced musical romp through one of the most impassioned decades of the 20th century. All of the money raised will go to Candlelighters of El Paso.

"It's pretty exciting to, like, know that we get to like make a difference in their lives and their families and help out a little bit," said Brianna Ricarte, a senior at Del Valle.

The actors, dancers and singers are all Del Valle students who want to use their talents to give back to the community.

The fundraiser begins at 5 p.m. with dinner and a paparazzi-lined red carpet; the performance is set to begin at 7 p.m.
