Lab results can't determine driver in Juana Muniz deadly crash
EL PASO, Texas --In a statement to KFOX14, El Paso police said after a series of tests, they were unable to determine who was the driver in the Juana Muniz fatal crash of October 15, 2012.
"The driver of the vehicle was unable to be identified through the lab results. As always, we encourage anybody that may have information as to the identity of the driver of red Hummer to call the El Paso Police Department at 832-4400, STI at 564-7000, or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 566-8477," said Darrel Petry, public information officer for EPPD.
As KFOX14 previously reported, Juana Muniz, 25, was killed after being thrown through the sunroof of a Hummer H-3 at Gateway East and Zaragoza, after a colliding with a Honda Accord at 2 a.m.
Her boyfriend, Fernando "Ricky" Rodriguez, was also thrown from the vehicle, and suffered serious injuries.
Police say the couple ran a red light, and believe both of them were intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Police say neither of them were wearing their seat belts.
It's unknown whether or not Rodriguez ever told police who was driving.
Muniz had been arrested for DUI the month before she died, and friends of the couple said they were out partying the night of the crash.
She had posted on her Facebook that, in the event of her death, she would like a big party with tequila, pink roses, and mariachis.
